Attendance at the World Bank Group (WBG) and International Monetary Fund (IMF) Annual Meetings is by invitation only. All participants must be accredited before the Meetings, and are strongly encouraged to register as early as possible to avoid delays. Participants are divided into different registration categories, described below. Please determine your category and follow the registration instructions for that category.

Badges

An Annual Meetings badge is required for all attendees to enter the WBG and IMF facilities throughout the week of the Meetings. Staff with a WBG or IMF-issued photo ID will be able to access the buildings with their staff badge.  Other registration types require accreditation, with the process defined below. A spouse must be credentialed to attend the Meetings in his/her own right. Spouse/dependent badges are not issued.

All participants must display their Annual Meetings badge to enter through perimeter checkpoints. It is not advisable however, to wear badges outside of the perimeter.

​Delegate Registration

Delegates should register through their respective Executive Director's office and should contact the Executive Director's office if they have not recieved a delegate registration form. Delegate badges for the Annual Meetings will be valid for entry into all World Bank Group and IMF buildings from Monday, October 9, through Friday, October 20. If you have any questions about delegate registration, please forward your inquiry to delegateregistration@worldbank.org.

​Observer Registration

Observer registration requests may be submitted online. Observers are the representatives of the international, regional and economic organizations that were pre-approved and invited by the World Bank Group and IMF.  Please see the list of Observer Organizations and submit your application as an observer if your organization is included in the list. ​Guest Registration

World Bank Guest registration requests may be submitted online. All Guests are subject to clearance and Guest accreditation is not transferrable. Guest registration will be open from July 31 to October 6.

Who may apply as a Guest? 

  • Private Sector: Representatives from financial institutions and banks, commercial enterprises, consulting, and contractor firms.
  • Parliamentarians and senators.
  • Academia: University professors, researchers, faculty members, and students who have research and educational interest in the operations and affairs of the WBG/IMF. Documentation should be submitted with the application (an endorsement letter from the Head of Department or Vice Chancellor of the University) confirming status in the University and stating academic interest.

WBG Guest or IMF Guest?: Guests may choose to attend the Annual Meetings as WBG Guests or IMF Guests, but may not apply as a Guest to both institutions.   Submitting Guest requests at both institutions will substantially delay the processing of your application. Except for restricted and private events, Bank Guests will have access to Fund events, and Fund Guests will have access to Bank events. If you have any questions about Guest registration, please forward your inquiries to GuestRegistration@worldbank.org.

​CSO Registration

CSO registration requests may be submitted online. CSO registration will be open from July 31 until September 22.

Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) include a diverse range of non-governmental organizations, community groups, labor unions, indigenous peoples movements, faith-based organizations, professional associations, foundations, think tanks, charitable organizations, and other not-for-profit organizations. All CSO representatives interested in participating in the Annual Meetings must obtain individual accreditation. 

The Annual Meetings will feature a Civil Society Policy Forum (CSPF), providing an open space for CSOs to dialogue and exchange views with World Bank Group and IMF staff, their peers, government delegations, and other stakeholders on a wide range of topics.  The CSPF will convene in Washington, D.C. from Tuesday, October 10 to Friday, October 13, 2017. The program will include an orientation session on the World Bank Group; a roundtable with World Bank Group Executive Directors; and about 40, mainly CSO-organized, policy dialogue sessions that reflect the diversity of CSO policy concerns. All CSO representatives interested in participating in the CSPF must obtain individual accreditation. This accreditation will also provide access to open events of the 2017 Annual Meetings.

​Press Registration

To attend the Annual Meetings, all working Press must obtain Annual Meetings credentials. Requests for media accreditation will be denied if applicants cannot establish that they are professional journalists. Press registration requests can be submitted online.

To be accredited, journalists must have valid press credentials issued by national or local authorities; or clear evidence that they are on assignment from a specific news organization or publication. This applies to all freelancers, including photographers. A valid assignment letter from that news organization, or publication, is required. Photographic agencies must provide clear evidence from a client news organization or publication.

If such credentials are not held, or are in question, it will be at the discretion of the WBG/IMF to determine whether access to the Annual Meetings is granted.

Staff Badges

All WBG/IMF staff, including country office staff who have headquarters-issued regular WBG/IMF staff IDs, will be permitted to access all buildings with their staff photo ID throughout the week and weekend of the Annual Meetings.

Only staff invited to attend the Annual Meetings Plenary Session, IMF's International Monetary and Financial Committee (IMFC) or G20 meeting of ministers of finance and central bank governors will require an Annual Meetings Badge and a corresponding pin. For staff attending the WBG/IMF Development Committee (DC) Meeting, access is restricted by invitation with a pin, together with either a WBG/IMF Staff ID or Annual Meetings badge.

Registration Desks

Registered attendees may pick up their badges at the main registration counters in the lobby of the World Bank Group I Building (1850 I Street NW) from Monday, October 9, through Sunday, October 15. Facilities for onsite accreditation are very limited and onsite accreditation is not guaranteed. Walk-in registrations may not be accommodated.
